The second man to be found dead inside the West Hollywood, California, home of major Democratic Party donor and activist Ed Buck since July of 2017 has been identified by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office as 55-year-old Timothy Dean, according to a report by The Los Angeles Times.
But until 2016, Dean was also known by the pseudonym “Hole Hunter,” under which he performed in a series of gay porn videos, according to the WeHoVille local news site. His Internet Adult Film Database page lists his most recent release, dated 2016, as Interracial Public Pickups 3. He also appeared in six entries in the Blacks On Boys series, according to IAFD.
Both of the men found dead in Buck’s apartment have been African-American.
Buck, 64, became a millionaire from a series of shrewd business deals in the 1980s, according to a WeHoVille profile. His entry into politics came in 1987 when he led a hard-fought and brutal campaign to impeach Arizona’s then-governor Evan Mecham. At the time, Buck, who came out as gay at the age of 16, was reportedly a registered Republican, but in 1988, he switched parties and became an active Democrartic donor and fundraiser, moving to West Hollywood in 1991, according to the WeHoVille report.
On July 27, 2017, a 26-year-old male escort named Gemmel Moore was found dead inside Buck’s apartment, due to what coroners ruled was an accidental overdose of methamphetamine, according to a Los Angeles Times report. But Moore’s relatives questioned the coroner’s determination that Moore’s death was an accident, raising the allegation that the fatal injection of the drug may not have been self-administered, and that Buck’s political connections may have influenced the investigation into Moore’s death.
Buck, through attorneys, has denied any wrongdoing in Moore’s death and said that he did not witness Moore inject the drug. In July of 2018, prosecutors announced that no charges would be filed against Buck in connection with Moore’s death.
But following the discovery of Dean’s death, during which Buck was also present according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, investigators are again looking into the circumstances of Moore’s death, according to an NBC News report.
The cause of Dean’s death on Monday, January 7, remains unclear. Police are investigating whether drugs played a role, according to an NPR report. Dean had recently been baptized into the religious group Potter’s House at One LA, which describes itself as “one of the fastest growing churches in Los Angeles,” and is affiliated with the Dallas-based Potter’s House megachurch.
Dean was also a member of the National Gay Basketball Association, and was employed at the Saks Fifth Avenue department store franchise in Beverly Hills.
According to the NBC News report, Buck’s lawyer described Dean as a “longtime friend” who insisted on visiting Buck at his apartment on Monday, then began “exhibiting bizarre behavior” after his arrival, leading Buck to call 911.
